Where do we work?

Our target area is a village called Amankuta. It is located in the south east of Nigeria in the Imo State. The village of Amankuta belongs to the Mbieri community, some 10 Km from the State´s captain, Owerri.

With whom do we work?

Our partners consist of various village cooperatives, mayor, other village representatives, pupils, hospitals, homes for the disabled and single people with specials needs.

The situation being faced

A large proportion of the rural population live in poverty and are dependant upon the few wealthier people.

There is little hope of finding work on the land so many people, in particular the men, leave the land in order to seek employment in the bigger cities.

There is a lack of clean drinking water and medicine.

What have we achieved until now?

  • Through assisting, with the creation of a village enterprise, we have helped in the production of Palm oil, Garri and soap,

  • and we have installed a puplic water system,

  • women´s cooperatives have been furnished with sewing machines and looms, and hospitals and maternity wards with medicine,

  • repairs have also been executed in school buildings,

  • approximately 200 sponsorships for children from poor families have also been realized in order that they could proceed to the next stage in their school carreer,

  • assistance has also been made possible for the disabled,

  • and single people who find themseves in difficulty.

We have facilitated the stay of young Germans and project workers in the Amankuta village. This exchange of experience between these groups was very enriching and we are grateful for that.
